Van swap

On a rural run where we take vans home at night, should we get overtime for putting van over to for putting van over to the ot Posties house who is covering the run the next day (leave, week off etc)? This usually involves getting a family member to follow you over in their car to pick you up when you drop off the van.

I'd say no, you could always leave the van at work and drive there and back in your car using your own petrol etc.

Currently not allowed to message vans at work as no safe parking. You are probably right though.

NO. Just be satisfied that you have free transport the rest of the week. Or get someone to pick you up from work before your day off or leave week.

Van swaps should not happen unless the person who is recieving the van at their home address have signed for that vehicle in the vehicle signing out book back at your depot. If there is a serious accident or theft it will come back onto your heads for switching usage of the van without it being legally documented.

Sounds pedantic I know, but it is a legal requirment for an employer to be able to prove in a court of law who was responsible for the vehicle when it is not parked at the depot.

Not so much a swap as a handover to postie working the next day. Still a gray area but not worth claiming for I would think.
