Finger hacks (small finger cuts)
Every year about this time I get small finger hacks, it's extremely painful, it's normally around the tips of the fingers and I think the cold weather is the cause of them, does anyone else get them and does anyone know a way of preventing them, I been putting cream on that supposedly helps but it's not.

Neutrogena hand cream. Apply it regularly. Also cutting away any bits of dead skin with nail clippers will help the healing process.

O’Keeffe’s Working Hands cream is another good one, not as greasy as Neutrogena.

Always surprised how these tiny cuts hurt so much! Superglue the cut together. Murder for the first few minutes, then eases off. Trust me, it works

Not sure you can prevent them completely, hazard of the job/time of year and trying to minimise the extent of the wear and tear is the aim of the game id say. I only suffer on one hand (first two index fingers mainly, thumb slightly less), the one that does the posting through the letter box, that and removing elastic bands from your bundles for 4 or 5 hours puts the strain on your finger tips for me. Trying to keep your skin supple helps, good cleaning routine, continuous hand cream etc and i cover my two index fingers with a long slim plaster each morning and that seems to help too.Postiebear wrote:Every year about this time I get small finger hacks, it's extremely painful, it's normally around the tips of the fingers and I think the cold weather is the cause of them, does anyone else get them and does anyone know a way of preventing them, I been putting cream on that supposedly helps but it's not.
