Any offices out there have any idea of this years Christmas arrangements?
We are 2 weeks away from the start of Christmas pressure (one week for the CSS operation) and absolutely no idea what RM are planning to enable us to deliver a “successful” Christmas. Mind you most of us are quite happy to just work our hours and let it fail.

That's the problem with Christmas ... it comes as such a surprise! It would make it all a lot easier if it was on the same day every year. :cuppa

Same as any other year. The shared van rounds tend to get help with parcels from the additional parcel duties and the rurals tend to deliver everything they get. Shared van duties tend to get back before duty time even though it's Xmas. Rurals tend to overrun but don't necessarily get paid for all the hours they work. We will still have the rule that no one is to deliver in the dark so we won't work past 1600 and anything left will have to go the next day. Each year gets busier than the last plus we have the election mailings as well. Strike appears to be off though and it's starting to look more like this was the intention of the union as they didn't want to disrupt any chance the labour party have.

Whats your offices finishing times? Our rurals finish at 4, so it's either finish on time, or deliver in the dark on O/T

Cardboard sleeves are already in use. Don't know if RM have any normal sleeves stored somewhere that could be released into the network

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

What on earth are cardboard sleeves, and is their use a sign of the apocalypse?

:Applause Quite Right TwoLoops. "Do the Job Properly" .... Come in on time.... Go Home on Time. :thumbup Ironically Christmas can sometimes be a bit easier than a Normal Busy Week .... because we get help from the Reserves (who are not on leave) and have some Hire Vans for Parcels. :cuppa

Basically it's a packet sleeve for a full height work

Just means that the larger MCs have started hoarding sleeves already

Our finish times are different each day but I think the latest official finish time on the sheets is about half past two.
So far regarding Christmas arrangements we are going to start at pre SWW start times for Xmas pressure onwards on overtime so 0600 instead of 0624. We will have probably one extra parcel delivery person given we have three on long term sick this Xmas time. No mention yet of when we can start booking Xmas pressure overtime when we go over. RM have got a bit more grumpy over this in recent years so I anticipate some of the usual regime with some getting paid and some doing unpaid work just to clear everything.
