When are the postal vote forms for the General Election due to go out? Will they get sent direct to DOs or will we be running them on iLSMs/IMPS and CSS?

They normally go through the mail centres. When they get sent out will depend on the local council.

Best practice would be to arrange dispatch by postcode and move it over DOs, that avoid double handling, it would take ages on the CCSs.

Yes the instructions regarding postal votes are on the poll cards which everyone who has registered to vote should receive. I have a feeling though that if you have previously chosen to always do postal voting you may just receive the postal vote form & not the poll cards.
Postal vote envelopes usually come in the 'buddy trays' of sequenced or walksorted mail.

??? No such thing as "buddy trays" with sequencing. It's 1 walk per tray, same with walksort

I just using the name for the trays that some others have used on here. We just call it trays of sequenced mail in our DO.

They might not go out from MCs on the day that they arrive at the MCs. By the end of November the amount of mech mail will have increased and there's a limit to the number of boxes that can be sequenced on a given shift

It's possible that not all MCs will have started their xmas plan by then, if they haven't then depending on what time they arrive at the MC they might end up being just walk sorted only

Postal voters do get a poll card - its a different colour to the normal one.

Bets practice for the CSS operators, but not for the Delivery Posties. Unsequneced mail takes about triple the time a sequenced box does and about double for a walk sorted. If its not passed through a machine in order it will get triple handled in most DOs.

They've started to come through now, which makes me wonder if it'll end up with them all arriving in MCs on Friday night/Saturday morning which would mean for some DOs they'd just be walksorted only

They must have started to be run through an IMP or iLSM just as the batches that cover your DO were being run. Your DO must be one that has wave 2 walk sort only
