Them having the box outside is them admitting that's their delivery point.

Just keep chucking it in there or at the 1st desk you see, that's what I do with shops and firms. Not walking around for 5 mins to do the job their staff are paid for.

we have a school with a box on front gates but says to only use when closed
used to drive in and wait for someone to come, could be 5 mins, then they said it needs to be taken to reception, did it once and got locked in for 10 mins before someone could beep me out, now it gets put in postbox

I have a doctors surgery on my walk the receptionist wanted me to wait while she sorts through the 50/60 letters to give me back any doctors/staff that had left, just leave it on the desk & gone :dance

We've got a new build of 650 posh student flats. Mail boxes are downstairs on the ground floor but the reception is on the NINTH floor. They insisted we go up there every day as they don't use the mail boxes, all post goes to reception. After several arguments our gaffer went to see their gaffer. At first their gaffer insisted all mail goes up to 9 but our gaffer explained in order to do that we would have to charge them a daily 'floor fee'. Guess where the mail goes now? :dance
"Just take it out and see how you go......."

I have an site on my walk that has ten 'apartments' mostly in one building with one being a portacabin at the rear of the site. All have their own doors but all bar one do not have letterboxes so there is a collective box at the front for all their mail. When our DOM saw it while my walk was being timed they said afterwards that all the mail should go in the collective box and if anything doesn't fit in just P739 them and return items to the DO.
I do sometimes knock on doors to try and deliver parcels but none of the doors are numbered and some front doors have recently been relocated!
We do our best but as we all know probably since 'absorption' was invented there is no time to spare at best.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

"i'm only paid to deliver to point of delivery, sorry"...even if a business complains to myself when it goes through the postbox whether open/shut.
I just do my deliveries opg job. I do not do internal desk service...until told otherwise

and as for waiting for other people to check mail...well we are paid by the hour, so, if the DoM says so, then fair...until then, cry foul...and walk on by..they could give it back the next day once they have check-sorted it.
