Christmas Supplement
There is a persistant rumour around our office that never disappears which is that the two 'bonus' payments we get at Christmas (Christmas Supplement + Incentive Underpin payment) are only given to employees who are union members and who don't call in sick at all during December. Anyone know if this is actually true and if we'll actually get it this year the way things are going?

Not true all of us get it and you get it if you’re on the sick and receiving full pay.redwomble wrote:There is a persistant rumour around our office that never disappears which is that the two 'bonus' payments we get at Christmas (Christmas Supplement + Incentive Underpin payment) are only given to employees who are union members and who don't call in sick at all during December. You don’t get all of it if you’re off on the sick between certain dates in December. But otherwise everyone gets it (union member or not) pro rata.

Christmas Supplement
Eligibility for payment is linked to employment during the Christmas pressure period.
For each full week, an individual receives no pay during the pressure period ( eg unpaid special leave etc ) the individual will lose one-quarter of the supplement.
For each full week where basic pay is reduced for sick pay pension rate, the individual will lose one-quarter of the supplement.
For each full week where basic pay is reduced for sick half pay, the individual will lose one - eighth of the supplement
For each day counted midnight to midnight excluding bank holidays on which an employee takes unofficial industrial action their supplement will be abated by 10%
for official action, it will be abated by 3%

We had a guy in our office was off before Chrismas and his Christmas bonus was cut (by about a quarter I think).

Christmas Supplement
The Christmas pay supplement of £100 for full time OPG and OSGs, pro-rated for part timers and 35-hour full timers (subject to the arrangements in Section 7) will be paid on Friday, 21st December. The eligibility criteria for the Christmas supplement payment will be the same as last year, based on the four December weeks (commencing Monday, 26th November). In the unlikely event of any Industrial Action the abatement criteria will be drawn from the PBS agreement.

Its the same agreement since I started in 2004 - word for word except adding the incentive underpin payment.plaguelift wrote:The Christmas pay supplement of £100 for full time OPG and OSGs, pro-rated for part timers and 35-hour full timers (subject to the arrangements in Section 7) will be paid on Friday, 21st December. It can only be stopped if you receive no pay or reduced pay. As far as I know, sick pay is 1/2 and then nothing except som pension payment.plaguelift wrote:number one wrote:Anybody who has been on the sick in my office during December have always received the FULL amount

It is reduced when there are strikes - 10% per day (0001 - 2359) for unofficial and 3% per day for official strikes.

You’re right TBT. I think he’d been reduced to half pay because he’d been off with a bad back for over six months.
