if you've triggered one you would probably get a letter after about a week, then a few days to another week for the interview. so within a fortnight.

I’ve been back at work for 5 weeks? With no welcome back meeting just this review? Can I refuse because of time passed? And how much notice is it to attend a meeting? Letter came this afternoon for Thursday morning?

Can you explain the sickness and absence policy to me in layman's speak? The more I read RM policy on this issue I get more confused each time!

if you have four absences in any 12 month period, it would trigger a stage one. i.e. you are off 1 day sometime, then another day, another, then another. if this is all with 12 months then that's four absences in the specified period so you will trigger a stage 1. alternatively, you could have 1 absence of 14 days, this would also trigger a stage 1. OR you could have 1 absence of 3 days, one absence of 5 days, another absence of 5 days and one absence of 1 day, this would also trigger a stage one. its which ever takes you OVER the thirteen days first. if you know the system it is very easy to abuse or 'play' as managers like to put it. you are clear of the stage if you have no absences in a 6 months period OR if you have ONE absence of less than 10 days in the 6 month period. BUT, keep in mind any outstanding absences that are still ''valid'' in ANY 12 month period as they will STILL count towards another stage if its within specified timescale of 12 months. is that plain enough?? :Very Happy

That’s clear as day till you say about the outstanding absences and can still count towards another stage ??

well you are off the stage after 6 months if you have no absences or 1 absence of less than 10 days. BUT you might still have an absence 'pending' …. say you were off 3 days in January, 3 days in April , 5 days in May, 3 days in beginning of July. so they issue a stage, say 20th July, you stay absence free for 6 months. you are off the stage 19th January. you STILL have 3 absences 'pending'...the 3 days you had off in April, 5 days in May and the 3 days at the beginning of July. these absences are STILL on your record and WILL count towards ANY further absences you incur. all absences stay on your record for 12 months until 'spent'.

in the above instance 1 more absence after 19th January would count towards the 3 STILL pending, making 4, and triggering another stage 1, but if you manage to stay absence free till after July you would clear ALL absences on your record giving you a 'blank cheque' so to speak, giving you a free run at the attendance procedure all over again! :Very Happy

You can't refuse the meeting. It should be two days notice. You can raise in the points that 1. You've had no welcome back and 2. If the review is issued it should be from the date of last absence and not the meeting.
