You should have had a WTLL about it, there was a handout leaflet that was dished out....let me guess - you don't get WTLL, it's used for delivery time instead.......

You are referring to the two new products I believe. One is the age restricted items product such as alcohol, solvents, bladed items etc which all sellers and carriers have to abide by now. The other one is for valuable items which have to be delivered to the addressee only.
You should have been given a read through either individually or in groups with printed examples of what appears on the PDA and what to say and do. It's fairly self explanatory and 'recipients' who order these items will be told at the time as regards the restrictions on how they are delivered. We haven't seen any come through our DO yet but it's probable we might see some at Xmas.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

Thread here, with a news story link...

Weirdly still nothing about it from the business or the union...strange.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Don't know why you are saying that as it has already been launched and everyone should have been coached on it. If you go on the internet and try to order alcohol for example you will see delivery information come up onscreen.

We had a WTL session for it a few weeks ago, but it was my rest day and as yet still I haven’t received coaching for the new items.

My office always does wtl before part timers come in and no one catches us up when we come in. I found out last week there was an important safety briefing regarding a knife found in a postbox which could have caused injury, guess what no one told us part timers. There is no notice board to inform us of issues raised at wtl. The first i will probably know about the new tracked items is when I'm on someone's doorstep with one. If I didn't ask loads of questions to full timers in my office, or come on here to read what's going on id be clueless.

I don't order alcohol on the net, we have every news story going on everything, there is limited news about it.
Oh look at my next post, MRM has caught up.

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2019/1 ... onsibility" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Our new Age Verification service will be available for customers to use from 1 November.

Customers can use the age verification service in confidence that any product posted using the service will only be delivered to individuals aged 18 or over.

The benefits of Age Verification service - (‘Is the customer aged 18 or over?’)
  • Will help generate new revenue streams by creating an ‘Age Verification’ service for RM Tracked T24/48 with signature and Special Delivery Guaranteed 9am and 1pm
Will aid in the retention and growth of volumes from e-tailers who are looking to use this service for carriage of age-restricted items such as alcohol, e-cigarettes etc
Will improve the customer experience by providing an offering that allows sellers to comply with the Offensive Weapons Act (OWA), which is forecast to become enforceable from early 2020.
Royal Mail will be using Challenge 25 principles for all items that require Age Verification, in line with other leading retailers. Challenge 25 means we will ask to see proof of age identification for anyone who looks under 25 years old, and we will examine the ID to verify that they are aged 18 or over before handing the item over.
On the doorstep
  • If the customer is clearly over 25, the item will be handed over with a declaration and signature
If they are not clearly over 25, then they will be asked to validate their ID using their passport or driving licence
Customer service point / Post Office branches:
If the customer is clearly over 25, they can collect the item in the same way as they collect any item today
If they are not clearly over 25, then they can only use a valid passport or driving licence to collect their item.
The Offensive Weapons Act 2019 (OWA)

The Government is introducing The Offensive Weapons Act (2019) having consulted in 2017 on changes to legislation to restrict the sale of knives and corrosive substances.

Once the Act is enforced, it will make it a criminal offence for retailers to sell bladed items to a person under the age of 18. Importantly for Royal Mail, there are new offences in relation to the delivery of bladed items by delivery companies. In general terms, it makes it a criminal offence to sell or deliver bladed items to those under the age of 18.

As stated, Royal Mail is supportive of the Government’s attempts to reduce knife crime and this service provides an offering for sellers to comply with the Act.

Hopefully, when people are ordering stuff, there will be a box to tick, stating " I own a passport or driving licence and can produce it where necessary to prove my age'.

Had an Amazon order come last night for an age restricted item, guy just asked my DOB, put it in his handset, got my signature then walked off, didn’t take very long at all. Sadly I’m comfortably over 25 though how you decide who ‘looks’ 25 and who doesn’t has always baffled me somewhat, I’ve seen people who to me look 40 get asked for ID in shops and the like. Have noticed when our grocery shopping comes from Sainsbury’s they’ve been asking for ID even though we don’t buy alcohol or anything age restricted.
