Does this now put a stop to the Cwu telling us that Royal Mail would drop the Tuesday . I think most of us thought it was nonsense anyway but surely this proves it .

Still del parcels six days a week. What Isle of Man post does has little connection what we do.

Up until 1969 The GPO (Royal Mail) was the official Post Office of the Isle of Man.

Manx Post is still loosely affiliated to the RM as anyone in a MC will tell you on the inward/outward.

So it does affect us......

Tuesday was dead this week for me I counted 23 calls I missed at one point on my round. No reason they drop both Tuesday and Saturday for letters. (if uso goes)

If the Royal Mail ever moves to a 5 day mail delivery nationwide, Saturday will be the one that is dropped I think on the basis that businesses aren't closed on a Tuesday although some are on a Saturday.

Saturday will then probably become a premium day to recieve mail. Parcels would probably still go out on a Saturday, maybe even a Sunday as well to keep up with Amazon.

Absolutely but that’s not the line the Cwu are peddling.

But if we didn't work Saturday there would be more post on a Tuesday, if managed correctly.

Just drop 1c and 2c and have one stream of mail which takes 3 days. Then offer specials and 24 hour tracks for next day delivery

It sets a precedent for the end of next year in RMs negotiations with the regulator to update the USO etc. There is plenty of other stuff the union needs to fight against first. The change to a five day operation isn't even on the table yet. The new parcel strategy needs to smashed first.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.
