Full time vs Part time staff

In our DO full time staff are continuously put on part time deliveries & any new start on part time contracts are trained on full time deliveries.

I myself have been taken off a full time delivery which I was covering for a staff member who is on long term sick, & a new start of part time contract has been trained on it. What can be done about this??

same in our office mate, was on a duty for couple of years till few weeks ago, new guy gets put on it and now im dumped about the place. sometimes on a part time duty while other part timers r on full time duty. Makes no sense to me

I'm guessing that the DOMs want as many staff trained up on as many walks as possible for flexibility when someone's off, more people who know a walk and can cover it

Then they should train part time staff on part time walks.... & full time staff on full time walks/rural. it doesn’t make sense taking me a full timer & putting me on part time walk. why didn’t they just train the new start on a part time walk & leave me where I was on the full time rural?

How much actual difference is there with the indoor aspect of DOs between walks?

There is a guideline that new posties are supposed to be kept on the same walk for the first six months to get used to the job. I'm not sure it happens very often though. It has happened in our DO in the past to a degree but not guaranteed to happen.

6 months? 6 weeks is what i've heard, and had, and that was plenty

The last six or seven part time contract employees have been trained on full time deliveries & kept on them. Whilst the full time duty holders are put on other deliveries & even part time deliveries struggling to make up their hours.

Is this a new tactic from Royal Mail because they see part timers running round full time deliveries coming back one maybe two hours before their schedule finish time!?

A question regarding the design of your walks:
I was under the impression that all walks in an office are meant to be as close as possible to being the same length in time to complete. In our DO all the posties do either four or five full day weeks and each postie just preps their own walk. All but two and three on Saturdays do the IPS. Does your office have walks that are timed for say 25 or 30 hour duties and others that are timed for full time duties ??

To answer this question is an unending answer but they at the end of the day finish at the same time how that is done with the different meal relief times prep and start times is for others to fathom out at the end of the day if you have passed your probation period. You have the same rights just not the informed decision of the rights and how to use them their in the answer is the question to the answer!
