CAN ANYONE FROM CWU TELL ME WHY WE ARE SO DISORGANISED? AFTER READING NUMEROUS POSTS ON HERE ITS SEEMS THAT EVERY OFFICE IN THE COUNTRY OPERATES DIFFERENTLY-SOME IMPLEMENT MANAGEMENT CHANGES WHILE OTHERS DON'T-SOME STICK BY UNION AGREEMENTS TO THE LETTER WHILE OTHERS DON'T.DIFFERENT START TIMES AND DIFFERENT PRACTICES AT EACH OFFICE HAVE LED TO CHAOS WITH MEMBERS NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY CAN AND CAN'T DO.THE MANAGEMENT ARE HAVING THEIR WAY ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE OF THE OLD ADAGE "DIVIDE AND RULE".THE CWU SHOULD HAVE NATIONAL AGREEMENTS ONLY AND ANY LEEWAY FOR ANY LOCAL AGREEMENTS ON MINOR ISSUES SHOULD BE BY A LOCAL VOTE AND NOT BROUGHT IN AD HOC BY LOCAL REPS WITHOUT THE MEMBERSHIPS AGREEMENT.IT'S NOT OUR JOB OR THE CWU TO HELP MANAGEMENT WITH THEIR PROBLEMS-IF WE DON'T LIKE ANYTHING SLING IT OUT,WE DON'T HAVE TO DO MORE WORK FOR LESS PAY!

National agreements lead the way ,local issues like start times are down to each office,and as you state its down to the members in each unit how they want to do certain things,in my office we start at 05.30 other offices locally start at 06.00,our choice.I have to disagree with your point that the c.w.u. are disorganised,in my office we are always being updated on issues that are going on either from our branch or from headquaters and yes if your not happy with something just say NO.

It is very easy for small offices to get hoodwinked into making decisions that can affect the area. They do it in all innocense believing it to be the right move. I believe that it should always be checked with area as to whether it will create a problem for the area or even nationally. But there are also local agreements made that are excellent for their office, very often Area would love to be able to have some of the agreements made at local level in everywhere!

I think that is where this site plays an important part. At least people in offices can now see what is happening in other offices and can question why certain things are happening. It helps to spread the word and people can seek advice before the dotted line is signed.

There is certainly power in communications, it is a shame that we as a union do not always get it right but hopefully that is imporving.

It's easy to sit on the sidelines and criticise,and that's the problem, sometimes we have rep's who quite frankly are not upto the job,but everybody's
had the opportunity to stand and that's why we get such a difference in working practice.
In my office we have a weak union rep,and the DOM has been able to implement many changes,that would of been unthinkable at Burslem D/O.
One thing i will agree with is the ability to quickly relay information to it's members,i've been frustated by this having already read about it on this forum or
google news.
But then again...the propaganda machine that is Royal Mail,spends thousands on state of the art televisions,only to end up sending vhs videos through
the post!

that reminds me when i've got to sit through crozier tomorrow,will the DOM believe me when i tell him i've already seen it!

Take my area geographically large DO's are all diferent lengths of time away from the mail centre so mail arrives at different times for different DO's meaning different start times.

The whole concept of universal start times in every DO is something my members in my office would oppose with a great deal of passion. They want the mail as soon as its ready to leave the mail centre there and then!

RM have said they want a universal start time regardless of what is operationally possible foir each D.O according to the LTB posted on here friday, once i tell my members they will go berserk!

There is not just confusion between local offices but between branches and divisions.

I though annual conference would make us all read from the same hymn sheet but it appears each branch interprets agreement and instructions differently.

Our branch is the only branch signed up to Pegasus???
