THE FRANCHISING OF WALKS.

I have been informed by someone in middle/higher management that RM are considering selling off/franchising the WALKS that bring in more money, ie like firms and outsourcing collections. The USO will change to every other day and that basically means half the workforce going. Parcel force will be absorbed into RM and be RM parcels with every second day letters. Ist class and 2nd class letters will disappear and will become standard class, except for SD. There will be about 14 MCs left after 2023 and more MPUs. Get on to your areas and ask them what they know because if they get the go ahead then RM is finished as they cannot compete with most of the other cowboys paying £8.21 per hour and lucky if they get any shift allowances. The standard letter will be ment to arrive in the 3rd day from posting. Different postal zones were going to be introduced but that, FOR NOW, has been thought a step to far, so close after privatization.

Doesn't sound great for non drivers

big knob coming to ours on Friday to tell us about their 5 year plan. I will ask him and tell you's what he says/denies etc.

So they sell off the rounds that make the profit for a one off fee , keep all the loss making ones then let the business collapse. IT AIN'T GOING TO HAPPEN SO STOP SCAREMONGERING.

You will be lucky if he gives you the time of day! I can remember years ago when the area manager used to walk up and down the aisles asking us if we had any questions or problems.Thats when the postie was valued! As I said you will be lucky if he gives you or any other postie the time of day.

weve had 1 of the "big knobs" come to ours...couple of weeks ago.

nothing new really...plenty of I don't know or its to early to .....

yes parcel sorting machines....yep no big parcels in our office in the next 5 years....ye walks increasing in size cos were not deliviering that many parcels

They might not closes some MCs completely, some might become "regional MPUs" with them taking over the sequencing work for a group of existing MCs and MPUs

If private firms couldn't make a profit in delivery when they were cherry-picking urban neighborhoods, it's not going to work for individual walks.
