95 degrees today on my walk - you?

Downloaded three apps earlier in the week and kept the most reliable; touched 95' about 12:30. Also drank two 1.5 litre bottles of water. What made it toughr was the lack of any breeze.

Seems to me it gets tougher around Noon - temp going up regularly, but by about 12 it was mostly about packets and parcels - the post can wait.

In the heatwave last summer our office suffered from absenteeism and we weren't far from collapsing, seems be going a little better so far this year ..

How's it around your way?

Very hot. Van was close to unbearable , the manager ( who is one of the best) had already told us to take our time and if it's getting on leave the mail and do the packets.

My PDA came up with a device overheating message today! I bet it was ... Anyone using it to sign for a recorded got third degree burns!

No contingency plans at all other than you can start a bit earlier to get out to avoid peak time heat. Didn’t work. I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t even have a risk assement on the situation. NHS stated that no one should go out between 11 till 3. Pushing your body in extreme heat has dangers including heart attacks and heat stroke. I’m not sure why R M didn’t take this a bit more seriously.. we could have prep the walks and just delivered packets today and cleared up letters tomorrow. It would have left us with less exposure to the heat

38 C, a struggle. Not sure my shared duty partner will turn up tomorrow. Nothing at all in concessions from our DOM for the conditions.

I am sorry but RM just dont care about the health and safety of their posties,they used to years ago,but not anymore. Its all about money now.

Exhausting 37 degs c and no cloud. Pushing a HCT in that heat is no joke. Not much to do other than drink plenty of water. Stopped 3 times in the shade to cool off. Pretty tough day and glad its over.

I agree. The letters and flats could have been rolled and we could have caught up fri / sat. Sadly it will take a few more to die before anything is done.

Our office the Dom actually cared about the staff after seeing that there Would probably be record temperatures today,deciding on single lapse instead of double not much but at least he realised the risks told us the normal H/S brief plenty of water, hats walk-in shade take your time etc ,after conference call area boss said double lapse and send a person to another office

Still did our absorption which is about another 45mins on top of our 10mile walks. 39 at its height DOM told us to all come in early to try to get out and back as early as we could. Few times today felt like I was going to pass out and me and my buddy both had the shakes. Did about 3l of water each and just plodded on. Back to the office and the DOM was there to thank us all and make sure were ok and handing out nice and cold bottles of water or cans of pop. Hopefully be a bit easier tomorrow not really much you can do but drink lots keep as cool as you can and head down and get on with it.

Much the same as usual except we were allowed to start half hour earlier. Had the usual advice about wearing a hat, drinking plenty of water, taking your break in the shade, having more breaks if needed and then don't forget your absorption.

My office wasn't go to lapse today because of the heat, but so many took sickies that there was duties with no cover, so they asked if we could take some lapse on overtime. I took a big bottle of water which I'd left in the freezer overnight, as a result I had cool water as it melted
