Our office went back to 1 in 6 Saturdays off from the 1in 4 off system. It's been about 2yrs since. I'm Asking is everyone entitled to 1 in 6? Our A/L covers very rarely get a Saturday off, the rota gets changed to give them any other day off even when the person on A/L rota'd day off is Saturday. I asked our Rep and he agreed the DOM was right to change the day off for the A/L cover

think they must average it out to 1 in 6 but if they abide by it is another matter, this is RM after all
i spent 6 yrs as a reserve and had to fight for it almost every time for a sat off, could never plan for anything accordingly and never ever got a sat/mon off unless i used my own leave

When I was a reserve I used to go to the person who did the duties and say it was my week for sat off, if I didn't get it that week I would the week after. Things like this you need to be forceful or they take the piss.

If you are a reserve they can give you a different day off from the duty you are covering. That usually causes a few arguments around bank holidays etc. You're still supposed to average 1 in 6 saturdays off, but in reality you're more likely to see a unicorn than get anywhere near. At least in my area anyway.

How does people coming in on their day off prevent others from getting a Saturday off?
If more people came in on overtime on Saturday then there would be more opportunities to get a Saturday off.
But there would be budgetary consequences.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If posties are coming in on their day off, that means we are short staffed, more staff & more posties can get time off ... Simples :arrrghhh

You are entitled to eight Saturdays and eight Mondays off a year, contact your area Rep to let him know this isn't happening and then go to disagreement Sorted! That's what I done in my old unit and it worked, if you don't want to rock the boat stop moaning.
