Quadrant canteen - would you like food poisoning with that?

I know of a fellow keyer at MDEC who suffered food poisoning from eating in the canteen, with lasting complications to their health.

Although I am more interested in the Plymouth MDEC canteen I would also be interested to hear from anyone who has suffered food poisoning from around the country.

our canteen is filthy! i stopped eating there when my mate saw a rat under the cooker. a disgrace.

Yet ours is ok the staff friendly and the food pretty good.

Ours isn't too bad though it could be better. What we all have to realise is the fact that when the contract for the
catering within RM comes up, it's always the LOWEST tender which is accepted. Now this is standard business practise , it has nothing
to do with quality in any way, shape, or form, and everything to do with the childish notion that the less that is paid for a service,
the more better that service should be. Until RM get into their tiny minds that they'll never get something for almost nothing, our
canteens will deteriorate alarmgly, especially in DO's.

I work for Quadrant and if i complained about the amount of times postman deliver the wrong mail to me, leave packages in unsafe places or leave my mail at the wrong address and put there jobs at risk as most postman do about our CWU Members within Quadrant i am sure you would be the first to complain.

So maybe in the future perhaps rather than constantly being negative about your Quadrant facilites and continually putting Quadrant members jobs at risk act more positively and set up a canteen committee within your workplace to address your issues with the Quadrant facilities and be more pro active in ensuring that they are there for many years to come.

i would never do that for our quandrant canteen lady. she is rude, miserable and off hand for no reason at all. and she doesnt know the word hygiene.

Have you ever noticed the grumpy, rude unhelpful postman about. People are not normally offhand and rude without a reason, maybe if you were more positive and helpful it could be resolved. Not all people are the same and a problem with one place should not tarnish the good work done by everyone else

Thanks everyone for your comments - geopip, I appreciate where you are coming from.

The reason I started this subject is really to find out if anyone else (particularly Plymouth MDEC) has suffered from food poisoning.

I know that topics tend to expand but I would still value feedback from people on the original issue.

I have not eaten anything in the canteen for over 2 and a half years, this is due to eating fish fingers and being verk sick afterwards. Nothing was done even though other people were ill and had the same thing.

Sandwiches from home now and if not I would rather go hungry.
