CWU too quiet on the 4 Pillars agreement

A message to the CWU and RM.

The 4 pillars has been agreed, there should be no talks whatsoever on this matter.

We should be balloting for industrial action right now.

If RM want to split parcels off then a 35hr week is what is needed otherwise skies the limit on duty size.

No. One of the reasons companies like Amazon haven't bought us out is because of the USO and the obligation to deliver mail 6 days a week.

A 35 hour week would be 3 hours off the working week. Or 36 minutes per day.

So according to your calculations if RM hive off the packets, under a 35 hour week the duty size would be "skies the limit" minus 36 minutes.

No. A five day week would be 7 hours per day minus 40 min meal break leaving 6hrs 20min per day so skies not the limit - the post says "otherwise" ie: if left at 38hrs and packets removed then skies the limit.

@clashcityrocker - you're right, slipped my mind then. But a 6h 20m day would still limit the walk size.

The CWU are keeping their cards close to their chest just as they did over the last pay negotiations so the current situation isn't unusual. Martin Walsh and others on this forum are keeping us in the loop as regards new proposals from RM which is more than most DOMs and other posties know.
I don't think the CWU can allow the new parcel strategy and other 'efficiency' changes to go ahead especially as the union says this will result in twenty thousand job losses. The 35 hour week may sound a rosy idea but it's partial implementation hasn't brought anything great to the job so far. If we allow the parcel strategy to go ahead there will be even more changes and the remaining jobs will not be as secure as they are now. It really will be the end of RM as we know it so if the mediation with a third party fails to stop the new strategy then we have to have hardcore industrial action.

Parcels being split off needs to be resisted at all costs. It's where the growth and future profits are, the security in this job is because of parcels. Take them away and how long is it gonna be before Royal Mail claim the USO is no longer viable? Lose the USO and they'll be serious job losses.

it has gone quite but management still pushing well its been agreed nationally

, its that time of the year mails down so you can do more

but parcels have gone through the roof , knocking on neighbours , collections and none of this has been built into your duty and which we all know that if you do the job as the book , start on time , take your breaks , use the kit , it cant be done and its not f***ing rocket science , and I think the cwu need to put this to bed once and for all and never mind the 4 f***ing pillars s**t , we all know what this company is like , get rid of bodys at any cost .

The union is in the middle of an election for the PEC/NEC. They can't be wasting time on industrial matters when there's the important issue of who gets to share the custard creams with Rico's negotiators.

Unlike the Tory party leadership election some people under 60 may vote but then again perhaps not.
