Allowed by Royal to cover duties for each other as long as there is no implication for Royal Mail. It's part of the flexibility agreement.

As Jambomatt1874 says not allowed by the Tax man.

In my office, its a haggle. Seller - as cheap as possible, Doer - as much as possible

Between £10 and £20 a row or £60 for a full frame

Managers aren't keen on it as it impinges on their ability to cover in the event of sickness etc

Been stopped at our place. Only way to cover someone's shift now is by swapping & both dates must be put in the swap book.
Not allowed to cover for a mate & say he owes you one.

No problems with paying people to do your work, row half a walk or full day.

Personally I wouldn't have a problem with it, but as others have said there could be tax implications and also
what would RM's view be if say for example you had a vehicle accident or got bitten by a dog when you
were not officially tasked with doing that delivery or part delivery, and which resulted in you having to
take time off work? Would RM use it as an excuse to get out of paying sick pay for example?

The only thing that's officially allowed is swapping days off.
Anything else like completing a duty after your own purely for a favour or time owed back would be at the manager's discretion since there are obvious implications with the working time directive and quality of service.
Money changing hands is definitely not officially allowed although it does go on.
