Streaming Mail

Is streaming mail permitted?
Dom and Lino tell us to stream the mail to complete as they never have any spare bods to cover. I was pretty certain streaming was a big no no, has there been a change? Or are they being sneaky by getting the office cleared every morning?

streaming is a big NO NO so if this is happening get your rep to throw it in the framework and that should stop it , the dom can stand mail down before ips which then has to be reported as a failure , but once the mail is at or in your frame its live mail and should be delivered .

They can do what they like and always have done . They just spout something along the lines of operational needs . We have businesses that pay extra to have their mail delivered by 9am but often doesn’t happen due to you guessed it operational needs.In other words can’t take staff off the ips or the whole office fails.

We get this as well...stream it says the manager

Ok boss.If i'm gonna leave mail in the frame then I want a written letter signed by you saying you have given me permission to do that
so when the inspectors walk in i'm covered.

Always been the same with Royal Mail no one actually knows not the managers ,CWU or the postman ,maybe in the next dispute we should stay out until we have a written booklet to say what is and isn't acceptable so we all know where we stand,way to sketchy at the moment. oh and managers should be made to sign something as us postman have to sign for everything handbrake training,video watching and in our office sign to say you done your re-directions its getting pathetic.

God what a cluster f..k of a job this has become,do the job safely ,properly and securely,but don’t because that will take to long and you won’t complete,have your say but don’t have your say because we won’t do anything about it,pda evidence as to what time I finished,tough,your not getting a penny,vans unfit for the road waiting to be sent to workshops to be patched up and sent back,lapsing loaning,in house bitching and fighting etc oh what joy,

All mail is live until it's killed off. Apart from d2d and poll cards (can't think of any other exceptions) all mail received by the DO from the MC is due for delivery that day

Streaming is ensuring that first class mail (and Tracked and Specials) are delivered but not delivering "less important" stuff like second class and Mailsort.

Steaming MAIL is NOT allowed under the terms of our Licence. If any Doms are doing this they should be reported via the whistle blowing site for bringing the company in disrepute. All mail left in office should be reported and the duties streaming mail reported as failing for that day. The sector manager should also be contacted

"Required Standards and Key Points

1.Royal Mail is required to deliver to every UK address each working day (Monday to Saturday)this includes letters and parcels.

2.All mail due service on any given day must be delivered, there are no exceptions, ceilings or tolerance limits to mail volumes.

Mail that is deliberately withheld, streamed or manipulated so that delivery is not carried out that day, could be construed as bringing the integrity and honesty of Royal Mail group or an individual into question, and the conduct code may be applied

The DOM (or deputy if the DOM is not present on the day in question) is accountable for the figures reported daily; even where DODR input is delegated, and every item of mail that has failed must be accounted for

If a decision is taken to fail mail at any stage of the delivery operation,then mail should not be streamed e.g. extracting 1c toconnect with delivery, as USO relates to all mail at the DO and should be reported accordingly

Mail from other operators i.e. DSA Mail must be afforded the same service standards as mail handled through our own network. We must not prioritise Royal Mail handled traffic above a DSA customer"
