Hi, find below the Mount Pleasant bulletin of the 19th of June. The entire back and front pages are also attached - comments welcome!

HIS OUT-OF-JOINT NOSE
Oh dear, we've not seen a union official upset like
this for a while! In his last Facebook video, DGSP
Terry Pullinger was seeing red: apparently RM
would rather consult a private advisor for their new
parcel strategy than sit down with CWU officials...
How could Rico Backward dare push TP out of
bed, just like that?

ON ANOTHER PLANET?
This is TP's explanation: “new managers, new
leadership, new thinking, that’s what we thought –
were we naïve?” No, not naïve! Just so removed
from the reality on the ground, after all these many
years as full-time union officials... And far too
“into” the "partnership" to understand that the
bosses take their consent for granted. Yup, after
everything they've okayed so readily: job cuts, twotier,
cuts to pensions, casuals, you name it... really,
what do they expect?

LUTTA CONTINUA
But that's not the end of the story. When we resist
on the shop floor, we can get managers to back
down and we do, time and again. In the past few
weeks mates have walked out in Peterborough,
Birmingham, etc. And just the other day,
Parcelforce workers also stopped work in
Swansea... and so it goes on...!!

YES, THEY SHOULD BE AFRAID
Of course, RM bosses are still claiming they'll
“work closely with the union”... while trying to
bypass the leaders, no doubt, all the better to
blackmail them. This is an old trick and one
wonders why anyone would fall for it. When they
say they want to work “collaboratively” with us, it
simply means they don't want us going on strike -
because quite rightly, that's their biggest fear.

SELLING US SHORT
How can managers now blame the lack of hands on
us taking time off? They have been getting Angard
casuals to come in for months now, and they're still
helping out on Mondays. These excuses don't fly
with us... everybody knows this mess is down to
their re-sign-shambles!

BRING BACK THE "MESSENGERS"
Speaking of the lack of hands - there used to be a
school-leavers' quota for new recruits. But it was
so long ago, do any of us oldies at MP even
remember these so-called messengers?
Considering the average age at RM is 47 years –
and maybe here at MP it's even more – we need to,
and would love to, see fresh(er) young faces!

NEW MACHINES? NEW DUTIES!
Finally the CFC machine No 3 (RIP!) is to be
replaced by two conveyor belts. But shiny new
conveyor belts surely come with shiny new duties?
Or do managers think that these conveyors will run
on reserves and whoever they might nick from
other jobs?

THEIR TOPSY-TURVY REASONING
We really feel the lack of hands here on the TOPS
and as usual, the only “solution” managers have
found is to shift people from other duties and cover
the work with OT. And yet, TOPS is still only half running...
So why aren't we working half as hard?

WHERE TO JUMP? WE'LL TELL YOU...
We've had enough of Late-shift managers telling
us off when we want to go on time!! There is no
reason why we should be staying a single minute
more to clear a mess that they've created
themselves. They're short of hands? There is
only one solution for that: bringing in new ones!

AFTER ALL THEIR HARD "GRAFT"...
We heard managers were "devastated" after new
broom Rico swept their annual bonuses back. But
their union, the CMA, went down on its knees, so
he agreed to give a few "special awards" between
£650 - £1,000 for those who'd best fiddled their
figures (to get above a "G" or "I" marking...
whatever that may mean!). However we hear that
the poor sods remain "extremely disappointed"...

HIS BARE-FACED HYPOCRISY ...AND GREED
Managers will no doubt be even more
disappointed to know that Backward just paid
himself a "special little award" of £647,000! Was
it reduced for bad performance?

Packet conveyors? AFAIK conveyor belts don't have any duties attached to them, it's whoever mangagers pick to go on them, there's no TPM for them as there's no jams and any that there are, are strictly engineer only

Based on what we get from other MCs you might as well scrap your TOPS machine, there's not the volume of flats anymore to justify any MC having a T2K machine. RM need to look into new machines which can sequenced (or at least sort) flats and letters together.

Regarding the drop in letters, and flats in particular, I don't think any of us posties or even RM expected the GDPR to have as much of an effect as it has done and in so short a period of time. Cheers to Juncker and all the other unelected fascists in charge of the EU for ******* everything up!!

Didn't we just have European elections? So not really un-elected then. As for GDPR its meant to protect EU citizens Data including bank details and medical records. I think that's worth protecting.

That's odd, I don't recall delivering any campaign leaflets that were either for , or in support of Jean Claude Juncker. It's nothing to do with GDPR, it was a ruling by the EU that decreed all postal services should be open to competition, privatised if you will. Of course the French just ignored it , we gold plated it.

Information such as bank details & medical records are already protected both by UK legislation and regulatory standards within the banking industry. All the individuals at the top with the influence and the final say and choice of direction on what will happen are appointed by others who wish to keep everything as it is. There is little effective chance for 'the people' to have a say in this regard. Once these stooges have forged ahead with their plans and thousands of jobs are lost in the EU from losing UK trade their heads will roll.

Can’t blame Brexit for the state Rm in at the present time, the problem is there are two many mail centres & not enough work If they closed half the mail centres & better used the ones they have RM could move forward.
