Oh assist referral 'rejected'?

I’m currently off with work related stress, all due to how my return to work after maternity leave was handled. Have had zero support from my manager so I requested a referral to oh assist as I thought this might open the communication channels a little.

I was told that the referral had been made over 2 weeks ago but as I hadn’t heard anything I text my manager today to see how long it would take and he said it had been rejected and that ‘they said that it's more an advice and support matter that an occupational health one’.

Why would OH assist reject a referral? I’m so confused and this is massively compounding the levels of stress and anxiety I’m feeling. Plus they didn’t even tell me, I’ve just been sat waiting for a phone call for the last 2 weeks.

Not to mention I’ve had a letter threatening to stop my sick pay also.

Is it correct that oh assist no longer deals with ‘mental health issues’? Is that why it was rejected?
