Safety Audit

Well here we go again with our safety audit,boss is hoping we do better than last time with our cataclysmic failure!,we have a brief and a list as long as your arm,and of course no time at all to do everything properly,as per some policy,hi viz,van checks,dog checks,posting peg checks,footwear checks,etc etc etc, everything done to the letter on the audit day so we can pass,then back to mayhem and chaos!he usually doesn’t give a stuff about such things,and we certainly have bigger real issues to sort out,lapsing loaning sorting,etc,real day to day stuff that simply gets the mail delivered within the hours that we are given,be lovely to do all this comfortably and not at break neck speed to get important stuff done without cutting corners,

I'm quite staggered by how many posties fail to check the duty walk log for that extra bit of collapse that they are supposed to do to see if there are any hazards. Mind you it would be far easier just to endorse the lot with a D in the top right corner and then don't bother delivering it......

Our DO achieved 99% on our last safety audit which is fairly unusual I think. Not sure we usually get that high a score but a lot of it is paperwork based so easy to make errors.

The Safety Audit is a sham, we also just had ours. You know it's happening so everything is done "correctly" for one day so as to pass.
In my view this is a total waste of time and money, the DOM makes sure everyone is doing things by the book and all posters, walk logs etc are
up to date.
But this should be done ALL the time not just for one day.
The Audit should be done without any warning and see how an office really is on a daily basis, ours would fail without a doubt.

I agree the H&S guys shouldn't book a date beforehand for the audit and just have access to know that the DOM will be there on the day they plan to arrive. A true picture would then be attained although with some DOs it is likely going to be damning.

As said previously why do the safety auditors let them know when they are arriving all this does is cause a lot of scurrying around by the dim and his elfs forging brief signatures and rushing to get things done properly. If the dim would pay attention to his work load and do his job properly and stop skiving off for his 10oclock tee off and passing his work on to other poor unsuspecting opgs then he would have the time to do all tasks set out by the SHE calendar
