Payslip query

Hi all,

what i want to know is when i receive my payslip, the pay rate is different to my net pay before deductions. Therefore my question is, "What makes up the value of the pay rate? I know one other individual who has also noticed this. On my contract, it states that the pay rate is what i should receive per week/month (for those that receive payment on a monthly basis).
If the pay rate is indeed a sum based on other variables, why include it in the pay slip at all? It just makes me think that perhaps i may be getting underpaid.

Clarification would be greatly appreciated. If your wondering why i haven't asked my DO manager, it is because when i come in, said individual has already left the building a majority of the time and i know that these matters take time to resolve therefore cutting into my remaining hours to complete my duties.

The pay rate is based on full time hours (currently 38). Your net pay is pro rata to the full time pay rate at the top of your wage slip.
