DOMs are not allowed to sign up to this forum or any other similar sites. RM is keeping largely silent on any changes and the union are in denial that anything is happening. The announcement is due on 22nd May.

The most likely change to be announced will probably be moving all box collections back to the walks leaving just post office & firms collections for SAs and current hybrid duties. This will save RM some money and makes sense really.

The other possible changes are much more destructive and would include the proposal to move all large parcels to the LAT hubs. Another rumour was possibly moving the whole operation an hour later which would be in addition to any more delays from the SWW.

Royal Mail’s capital markets days is next Wednesday 22nd May.

This announcement is aimed at getting investors to buy shares and raise the share price. At the moment there are rumours that Deutsche Post may try and take over Royal Mail with the share price so low.

To do this the company will set out what their plans will be and how they are going to both grow parcels but also reduce costs by cutting jobs :

This is expected to include :

Parcel Separation which is removing larger parcels from being delivery by the current 1400 delivery offices to just the circa 300 LAT units meaning job losses in all those offices who lose the parcels above shoe box size.

How they intend to roll out digital technology to increase productivity and set standards

Amazon buying us would be truly dreadful.

But it's possible that the CMA would block any such move - the UK's biggest sender of parcels also becoming the biggest delivery company might sit uneasily even with our Tory masters. Then again, they've allowed worse.
