Courier sackable offences!

Flicking through the courier I noticed in the social media section two items shared that are disciplinary/sackable offences:
One is a tray of mail on the passenger seat of the van.
The other is a tweet shared by a customer where the postman has signed for and posted a letter for them!

Does this mean that Royal Mail are encouraging us to do this?

well the van is stationary at the time, so it can be argued he just set the mail down for a moment, and he was safeguarding it the whole time.
How do you the the postman signed for it ? its not clear in the pic you uploaded. But yes if this is the case im very surprised its been put in the courier.

In the photo it appears to say signed it for you on it (a bit clearer in print than on here) and I believe that’s why the person tweeted thanking the postman!

They will be able to, it'll linked to the posties pda. The reality is they bank on people cutting corners, many of the duties are unattainable without doing things like signing for letters so they won't be anything. It's only when stuff goes missing anything is said. And then for signing for items it's a slap on the wrist and forgetton about going by our office.

You are allowed to sig for items on behalf of the customer as long as there is a written agreement between the customer and Royal Mail. A form was circulated around our office a couple of years ago which allowed the customer to give permission for the postal person to sig, post or leave in safe secure place. If I sig on behalf of the customer I always sig my own name, not fraud. As was mentioned in a previous post all will be ok until something goes wrong or missing then it will be a**s covering time.

Pretty much says it all. Some Posties bending the rules to make the service less s**t. Couldn't paint a more accurate picture.

Of course it's bloody annoying that some Posties do this. The customers then think it's completely fine, will broadcast it to the world, blissfully unaware the Postie is risking their job every time they do it.

The customer is always the person sending the item, not the person receiving the item

Someone in my office signs for almost everything, even specials, a very popular rural duty holder postie with 25+ years service. Customers love it and so does the postie as it means they can finish a lot earlier.

Not so! It’s the person that sent the item that requires the signiture. That’s what they pay for and no dispensation note between Rm and the receiver can alter that unless they are physically unable to, then you can endorse PDA as unable to sign
