Part day sick?

I think i remember reading that a part day sick absence doesn't count against the 3 stages procedure will not be included if the person returned to work the following day. I cannot find it anywhere though, does anybody know anything about it?

You don't need to come back the next day in order for the part day to be discounted, it's a few lines in the attendance procedure :

Part-day absences will not normally be considered towards the formal process. If the number of part-day absences has become excessive, the matter will be discussed with the employee in line with the principles of the Attendance Agreement. Further part day absences may be counted against the attendance standards, following advance written notice .
