I seem to remember that in our subs we also pay a polictical levy to the Labour Party and that there is an opt out on that part of the subs. Am I remembering correctly and if so how do I go about removing the levy but staying in the union?

You can drop out of supporting the Labour Party if you wish. I'm surprised anyone would want to support them given the mess they left us all in which will likely never be fixed. Not that any of the main half dozen political parties are currently capable of running a ****-up in a brewery.

I contacted the Union via their web site and they opted me out of the levy soon afterwards. Had tried my local rep first but he had no idea!

It is about 20p.
It is a political levy which covers all the union political campaigning so not all of it goes to Labour.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
