Tracking an item without tracking number

Long story short, the Missus posted a phone today to an ebay buyer and the PO didn’t give tracking, it’s gone 1st class recorded.

Is there any way I can get my hands on tracking should an issue arise?

You should have got a receipt for payment + another receipt with the tracking number.

If you have no tracking number then I have no idea how you can get hold of it. I assume you can't.

I had an issue with Parcelforce previously, had an item picked up and they wrote the tracking down wrong so spoke to customer services who tracked it down using the delivery address so wondered if RM could do that same.

Should really have been sent Special delivery to cover the value of the phone. Hopefully it won’t come to it, but if you have to make a claim, 1st class recorded only covers you for £50.

Go on the RM web site and put the recorded number in and it should show it on there.

The number is on the proof of postage, if you ain't got that then there's nothing can be done. Just got to hope.

isn’t it not possible to return to the post office you sent your parcel with and just give them your details so they could look it up and just reprint a receipt?
