Stage one for 3 days sick?

So basically ive had 3 days off in the past 3 weeks (1 day off then a couple of weeks later 2 days off). Prior to this i must have only had about 2 or 3 days sick over the past 2 and a half years.

Manager mentioned to me today i’ll be getting a letter about going on stage 1 due to these days off. Just thought it was a bit excessive for 3 days sick?

14 days or 4 periods of sickness in a year. Ask for a print off of your sickness record.

Two sicknesses in a fortnight cannot be a 'pattern'.

You might argue that (say) three consecutive Saturdays taken sick might be establishing a pattern, but there's no way any two absences (even consecutive years on your birthday or anniversary or whatever) can reasonably assumed to be more than coincidence. Unless of course you know nothing about incidence and statistics, which probably includes most RM line managers . . .

There should be a copy of your absence record with your invite letter. A stage is only prompted based on your absences, a manager cannot just bring you in to give you one, it's automatically generated through PSP if you have breached the 14 days/4 absences in a 12 month period or 10 days/2 absences in the 6 months following the issuing of a stage 1 or 2.

I cannot see how they can issue a stage if its a pattern or not if you haven't breeched the agreed standard.

I had an invite to meeting letter as I've had 4 days off in a year!! And told that its unacceptable Haha I've still had less time off in a year than both my managers when there upwards of 2 weeks each, I went to the meeting told there was a pattern as out of them 4 days one instance was a Saturday in October the other was a Saturday and a Monday in March just gone and that justify a pattern, the meeting ended with my manager saying "I'll have a think about what to do" that was 2 weeks ago now and nothing since.. also to add on 2 of them occasions off sick I never did have a return to work done either!

Say you were sent home sick from work just before you left for delivery on a Monday, and you then took Tuesday and Wednesday off before returning feeling better on the Thursday - how many days does that count as? 2? 2.5? 3?

gotcha. I knew there was a quirk in there somewhere - in this case the 0.5 either gets upgraded to a full day if you don't come back next day, or ignored if you do. cheers.
