ERICA accident report advice .

Are you able to report an official accident report (ERICA) following an injury at work without reprisals or prejudice ,if so is it easily available to all staff at your office ?.as I broke my ankle last week , was unable to report it at the time due to the trauma of the injury and having to arrange my own way to A&E ,and was treated like a drama queen ,despite being forced to walk about on it due to the lack of respect and dignity . It was the size of a tennis ball on my ankle withine 10 minutes or so ,was treated like an inconvenience rather than a casualty , not been back to work since obviously, This was in the office with full staff around .

a manager should have contacted you and if you were unable to go to the office should have come out to you - an accident should be reported within 48 hours unless there are mitigating circumstances (eg in hospital in a coma ).Contact your manager and Union rep ASAP

There should be no reprisals unless you are at fault

ERICA reporting is available to all who work for RM whether they are employed by RM or not

You could sware I was making a claim against them ,I'm not despite the awful treatment I received from my manager.

I'm at my wits end due to the pessure that this has put me through ,I can't even sleep at night , what happenes to the bit in the H&S about " NOT TO APORTION BLAME " as this leads to not repoting it ?.

I have come to the conclusion that ,I have lost all faith in Royal Mail ,and that due to various miss managed errors over the years that have caused both great financial and physical health loss to me over many years .whilst reading through the various topics largely of a disparate disparing nature of Bulling harassment from topics in this site what a toxic culture Royal Mail has created.

Just make sure they dont try and brush it under the carpet,thats what they usually try and do,as it effects greedy managers bonuses!!

My office is so toxic they will make my life hell if H&S get in on it, which is what he openly cojuled me to believe when he visited me at home to convince me not to report it ,I was still in shock .Pretending hes my mate , wasn't looking like any mate when his only words to me when he saw the full extent of my injury was "How do I cover your round now ", Not, are you ok ? Let me help you ? not even the common courtesy of arranging any transport to A&E ??? .I am so angry ,it's as if there is no moral compass left in the company. Royal mail should be ashamed of this behaviour .

Get h&s on it asap then watch them squirm when their life is made hell good luck.

Yeah get area H&S rep or branch on it

Will be classed as a RIDDOR so manager definatly won't want it on his performance

I broke my ankle whilst out on delivery in January, manager was more focused on getting the rest of my delivery covered, taking pictures of where I'd had the accident before taking me to hospital

Makesure its reported, will help you in the long run if there are any further problems down the line.

Good luck with recovery, its a long slow process

sorry to hear you also had previous problems, hope there was a better outcome for you , thanks for the support, its a lonley place to be at , I don't even want to go back to work now , I love my round and customers .

Years ago if you had any sort of accident at work,you would have to fill in the accident book,thats when RM cared about their staff,how times change. Now its all about money,and woe betide any postie who has an accident.
I really hope it all works out for you.
