booking overtime

just been told off our 'new dom' that anyone now booking overtime has to inform him or the lino and either of them will book it on the overtime sheet. we are NOT to do it ourselves. he says its all about audits and its a national thing? its as if we are not to be trusted anymore. they've both said its agreed with the union but our rep says he's heard nowt. anybody else been told the same?

yes it's been this way for quite a while now its best to over guess as claiming 45 mins when only told them 30 mins is a no no and if you finish early one day that is knocked off your weekly total

and if its a 'no no' when you book 45mins when you told them only 30, then surely this should be taken into account when taking 'gained' early finish time off your weekly total.

No banked hours agreement with the CWU.

No banked hours agreement with the CWU.

has the union agreed what our DOM is telling us though. that we can no longer fill in our own overtime.?

Managers have to sign the overtime off, so really they have every right to do the filling in themselves. However many avoid the 'conflict' situation on our return (when of course many are no doubt not even present in the afternoons) by hiding sheets in different drawers, locking them away or taking them out of the office entirely until the following morning, They also put a large squiggly pen line through the whole sheet indicating no-one can book! Pathetic.

I only ever see the overtime docket when we get audited or the delivery area manager pays a visit, not that i work any overtime.

Has been like this for as long as I can remember or at least quite a while now. When some posties abuse the situation this is the kind of thing that happens. Of course I can remember when the sheet was just left by the signing on sheets. I have no problem with RM paying for xx amount of work and receiving xx amount of labour.
We do get an occasional 'banking of hours' type thing for example when there is snow and we get a backlog of mail.

Well they shouldnt fook off early then , if they were in the office when I got back they would see me fill it in on the O/T sheet

well we,ve mentioned this, only to be told to see him or lino the next day to have it filled in. we are NOT to fill it in ourselves anymore.

its never been like this in the 26 years I've been there. this is new.

Different offices different rules. Typical royal mail. We've had to estimate our overtime for about 10 yrs now. Can't claim more than you estimate. Over estimate and you get the usual bullying back chat from certain linos.
