Hi, new Postie here....

In your experiences how easy is it go get the days off that you want?

Are management ok with employees taking 3 weeks+ off at a time?

Are management ok if you want to book 23 consecutive Saturdays off?

Are management ok with you booking off time around Xmas?

You can book three weeks but you will need to book a fortnight then another connecting one week later. Booking 23 consecutive Saturdays no

1. Depends if the leave slots are full or not, but generally it is difficult.

2. as per 1.

3. That's a definite no, it would be really hard to get so many Saturdays off, plus Saturdays are at a premium and it won't go down well with your colleagues if you block 23 Saturdays.

4. For the 4 weeks before Christmas, there is a leave ban so there is no chance there. Also the week between Christmas and New Year is a premium so is quite difficult to get. I haven't had it in 15 years despite applying at least 8 times.

Xmas eve boxing day the day after no allowed leave find it hard to believe. are is just easier to get these days off in a mc.

No problem getting 3 weeks off. None of us get any time off before Xmas. You are never going to get 23 Saturdays off unless you've on long term sick.

How many casuals do you get in the mc over Xmas? We get none in the do so that might have something to do with it.

I think this must be taking the p*** but otherwise,

3 weeks off, depends on available leave slots, unlikely at school holiday times.

23 consecutive Saturdays. Not a chance in hell!

Time off around Christmas. As previous answers no leave for 4 weeks up to Christmas and very difficult to get the week between Christmas and new year.

lol. Just getting an idea of what is the best you can get in terms of holiday. I guess it's basically any odd week or odd random day between early January and early November. You can't have too many Saturdays off, you can't have Xmas off.

Said this before, the worst part of this job is the leave. Literally a year in advance in our office. Getting odd days is a nightmare too. A guy booked Florida and needed an extra day, Monday I think it was and he was told no and to cancel the holiday

He had to sort it himself and swap his day off with somebody.

I am new...

Should I be booking days off well in advance then? I mean - I don't have any days I need to be off, no holidays to Magaluf booked, no weddings booked, so I don't need any specific days off....but... do I need to be booking some random days off now, early, well in advance?

Is it not the case that I can just say to them a week or 2 in advance that I need a Wednesday off? do they expect like 5 months notice of something?
