Do I have a case for discrimination ?
If one has asked for special leave for IVF treatment , and have been told that "SL is only given to the person receiving IVF treatment" ie only to the Female !
So i was wondering if there was a SPECIAL SPECIAL DELIVERY for sending my sample for the IVF treatment abroad within 30 minutes ? LOL
Surely this is blatant sex discrimination ? Have they no idea whats involved in this process ? This quote was forwarded by my line manager sent to him from HR .
Obviously my line manager has not an ounce of empathy and always looks to get out of using his discretion . I have read in previous guidelines that one can have up to
12 days SL , we have been trying for 3 years now and last year I was given this answer when I asked for few days SL . I could'nt be bothered with the answer i was given as i was too stressed as it was with all tests and procedures we had going through .
Now we wish to try again as we were not successful obviously , but its really bugging me with the answer I was given , can anyone shed some thoughts on my approach to receive SL ?
Thank you

Don't know to be honest, and to be fair I doubt anyone on here would, its quite a technical question and I wouldn't like to mislead you either way.

I would contact the Union Equality officer at your Branch if you are in the CWU, if not, and as well, try ACAS.

You're not been discriminated against , because you can't personally have the treatment , however I'm sure that a more empathetic view could be taken ,when all you want to do is support your partner in the process.

Think there's more of a personal involvement:
