I’ve just wondered what it’s weight capacity is. Bearing in mind the workload of the typical weds/ thurs it would be like to wing a caravan . Not too sure the battery charge life is up to it despite claims it charges on the go.

Where will you ride and park these things? You couldn't ride them on footpaths ,would you do like a park and loop but need 2 trikes instead of a van? I noticed they are being tried out at this time of year instead of December. It says that the battery will last 4 hrs with solar panels to charge it. So on a dull December day when you are delivering for 6 hrs, are you gonna get back to the office. I guess it is nearly April 1st though. Did the business consult any posties before they wasted time and (more) money on this.... guess not. They wanna be green ,then they revise offices with hct deliveries and make them van shares just so they can take all their packets. Floundering headless chickens.

People don't like change, particularly Royal Mail ladies and gents. All good, bring it on. Who cares about looks, management don't? If it's cheap, win win for them. It WILL carry a great deal of weight. Windscreen can be cleaned easily enough. It requires little effort to drive along with power assist. It WILL be suitable for some duties, not others. In comparison to a 'pram' what is so ridiculous?

Handy for a hilly town route or pedestrianised areas. Might be an option in the ultra low emission area. A bit niche but you can see it as an option in some locations.

The situation is coming to a major decision point worldwide in terms of climate change, global warming, & polution. The majority consensus is that human activity is to blame so changes will have to be made. Capitalism is a failed and wasteful system and I doubt it can be fixed. Despite all the awards that RM receives for 'green' improvements our end to end operation is fairly damaging and wasteful. RM is trying to improve it's image but diesal engines will have to go so we have to start planning now. Probably the main problem with the trikes will be if the capacity is large enough. If RM don't get their proposal through to take large parcels out separately, & I hope they don't , then walk lengths will have to be reduced a fair bit. I get the impression that the union like the trikes so maybe they aren't such a bad idea.

Electric vehicles are only as clean as the power source used to charge the batteries. You've also got environmental damage from the mining of lithium and is there enough lithium available (including what's not yet been mined) to build enough batteries, taking into account replacement batteries once batteries hit their maximum number of charge cycles. Also would the National Grid need a huge upgrade to cope with the demand?

If walk lengths did get reduced, more vans would probably be needed, would DOs have the room to park all the required vans when some DOs (from reading through various threads) don't have enough room to park all their current vans, let alone extra vans. If RM goes over to electric vehicles then you've still got the same problem of space to park them but with the added problem of access to charging points.
