What are the rules about an Accident at work

Post by postmanzach »

If you have triggered a stage 1 from absences caused from a sprained ankle from tripping at work it doesn’t count right?
But what if someone had a trip at work and didn’t realise the importance of getting the trip recorded as an accident. This has happened to someone i work with, they have stage 1 review tomorrow. What should happen?
The manager has now investigated it and spoken to a witness but the witness said the postie tripped as they were talking and the postie was walking backwards! Got a feeling manager is going to say it’s there own fault and they should have been more careful and they should have reported it straight away so it’s going to still count as a stage 1. I sort of agreee but I want to help the colleague out as much as possible. also think we should all be more informed about how it’s vital to report accidents within 24hours, and not to walk backwards!

thats why it should be reported straight away, probably too late now.
