redelivery of 1pm special
say you try to deliver a 1pm special and scan it as undelivered and leave a p739 but later on after 1 you revisit their street and they ask for the special, can you still deliver it?
i'd be inclined to say yes, but in this case i'm the 'customer' and the postman (who i work with) refused to give me it.

yeah, i would and have delivered a few like this. the first scan needs to be before 1300, but there is no reason it can't be scanned again.

Only the first attempt is time sensitive.
Of course if you can deliver it, then you do.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

redelivery of 1pm special
August 2013 wording in the Courier:
Graham Wonham, premium products improvement manager, replies:
Graham Wonham, premium products improvement manager, replies:
The correct procedure in this instance is to scan the barcode on the item again, scan the item as delivered, obtain the customer’s
signature and then hand over the item (in other words, simply repeat the delivery procedure as you would for a new item).
The reporting systems for Special Delivery and Royal Mail Tracked take the first doorstep scan event to stop the Quality of Service
clock, so quality will not be affected if you use this procedure.
I hope this helps to clarify things and should prevent this situation from happening
in future.

We've been told that any specials or recorded or tracked that we try to relideliver after we've already scanned them as not delivered we have to first go into 'indoor' 'enquiry office' 'record not delivered item' 'apply status to all'... then go back to outdoor and scan it as delivered before handing over to the customer!

And managing is for managers, which they don't seem able to do.clashcityrocker wrote:Only the first attempt is time sensitive.

Hasn’t been that way for 6 years. I think your manager needs some refresher training.wacko74 wrote:We've been told that any specials or recorded or tracked that we try to relideliver after we've already scanned them as not delivered we have to first go into 'indoor' 'enquiry office' 'record not delivered item' 'apply status to all'... then go back to outdoor and scan it as delivered before handing over to the customer!

I've redelivered specials after 1pm before, customers tend to be grateful, and nothing has been said back at the office

Aye, I do it all the time. It's a trick of mine if I'm early, go back to the places I couldn't deliver to first time around and that includes specials.

Yep, do it all the time. Nobody has ever said anything and never been told to do indoor scan either.

First priority is scan special at customer door before 1, that's it your job done after that you can deliver anytime again if you think customer going to be in later.
