Duty revoked due to admin error?
a friend that applied for a job at work, got the one he wanted, now I personally think a few people moaned who also applied, maybe? and a week later he has been told its been revoked due to an admin error...?
can they do this? I guess they can? he said the Union guy who called him didn't really seem to care?
just wondering what if anyone else has experienced this?

Duty revoked due to admin error?
Depends on the reason
If for instance the admin error was due to someones start date being incorrectly inputted on the system and they actually had more seniority

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

And there's the reason.cant apply for a change of duty unless you've been on your current duty for a year.
Obviously there are exceptions, but that's the bottom line.

Does this only apply if you have signed for the duty as opposed to just covering it indefinitely?ihatedogs wrote:And there's the reason.cant apply for a change of duty unless you've been on your current duty for a year.

Duty revoked due to admin error?
Generally speaking, career progression. So an increase in contract hours or upward movement within the business. E.G. moving from light van collections to mgv which is an increase in hourly pay rate. In this case you can drop hours but still move duties within the 12 month period.Smir wrote:whats the exceptions?ihatedogs wrote:And there's the reason.cant apply for a change of duty unless you've been on your current duty for a year.

Career progression in d.o's is a bit more difficult since phg's are no longer a thing.
Hope this helps.

Duty revoked due to admin error?
So, if for instance I signed for a duty and 6-7 months down the line didn't like it anymore, I would be blocked from signing for another one that became vacant. (This is all hypothetical).ihatedogs wrote:Generally speaking, career progression. So an increase in contract hours or upward movement within the business. I'm guessing this is to reduce the likelihood of people that have worked several years with the company never getting a duty?

Duty revoked due to admin error?
Yes, that's correct. Allows others to apply for duties, otherwise the senior man in an office could change duties at will whenever one was advertised.themailman wrote:So, if for instance I signed for a duty and 6-7 months down the line didn't like it anymore, I would be blocked from signing for another one that became vacant. Duty revoked due to admin error?
Employees who are regarded as suitable should be dedicated to these duties for a minimum of 12 months. If after 12 months the employee wishes to change jobs, they must give adequate notice to enable a suitable trained replacement to be found before release can be allowed. The replacement must be available to take up post no later than six months after notice has been given.themailman wrote:many, many thanksihatedogs wrote:That last sentence bothers me so I went looking for the agreement regarding advertised duties.themailman wrote:Thanks.ihatedogs wrote:Yes, that's correct.
