london cwu division
1 walk in every 6 duties to be collapsed
other 5 duties pick up collapsed walk packets over shoe size go to new parcel delivery who work up to 7pm also picking up lats
is this a national thing or just london and why have membership not been informed

It is a proposal. It hasn't been trialled yet.

It possibly makes sense in terms of finding more work for the LAT duties. In every other way though it's a bad idea and I don't think it can work. The perceived savings from not delivering larger parcels on walks will not cover the time needed to deliver twenty percent of another walk. Business is quiet at the moment but realistically speaking this situation isn't going to last forever. Issues like Brexit and the GDPR will eventually clear and the move from retail shops to online sales will only increase. We need to hold on to current delivery capacity and probably plan to expand in the long term.

they would have to take more than just a few large parcels off dutys to increase delivery walks , for instance on p&l pairing you already have 1600 calls they take say 20 large parcels btw the 2 , and then you get another 280 calls including all there parcels as well , so then that would also increase your prep indoor , mail , d2ds etc . oh and the talk of a shorter working week , it sounds like another great plan

I just read that article. I liked the bit at the end about Amazon having to grovel and eat a bit of humble pie. Certainly in the UK the competitors are often paying about two pounds per hour less than the minimum wage based on emp!oying immigrant labour. Many governments and the EU have their sights set on Amazon and other companies with a view to collecting fair taxes from their operations. The likes of Amazon are not necessarily going to continue to enjoy an easy ride.
