Correct procedure for returning Special Delivery/International Signature Required items to sender

As per title. Several managers unsure of process. Why is there no provision for selecting a return on the PDA, as scanning the barcode surely relates to addressee not sender?

There is no special procedure.

You scan the bar code and select the reason for non-delivery - ie refused.

Then you return it to the locker apply a kill off sticker and they return it scanning the same bar code till it is returned.

The bar code does not apply to either the sender or the receiver, it applies exclusively to the item of mail itself, so whatever happens to the item the bar code should be scanned irrespective of whether it's being returned or delivered as addressed.
