Reporting a Grievance

Post by Interested-seeker »

I want to put a grievance in against my manager today. He is away currently. I've been told by my union rep that I need to ring a number on the payslip to make a grievance. He says that we no longer send in grievance forms and that method has been done away with.

Is this correct? If so, which number do I ring - the bullying and harassment one?

The rep is right about the removal of grievance forms, the process normally now is dealt with by informal meeting with your line manager (at which you state it could be the beginning of a grievance process), then arranged meeting with same manager within a few days with notes taken if not resolved before, then DOM level etc as per the previously posted process. All accompanied by rep or fellow employee. With this being raised against your manager then the HR number or bullying/harassment is appropriate.

Seems a waste of time...
It takes a lot of guts to stand up and take a grievance out against a manager, and then be put into the room with the same manager plus the Dom in charge of the office with only your rep.
The Dom is always going to side with his manager, it should be done in a neutral venue with a person not connected with the grievance and a area rep.

A person in my office plucked up thr courage to take out a grievance and was put in the room with the manager,Dom and rep, they told him to turn his phone off as they believed he was going to record everything that was going on.
They then tried to intimidate him and the said manager made a verbal apology for what had gone on, and the union rep urged him to accept it, he has had nothing in writing.
And guess what he is now being singled out by another manager, he is now writing every thing down daily..
Is this a right way to go?
Joke, the process is floored and is all loaded against the post person
