My walk is 6 hours and I have 89 closes what is the standard for health and safety volume of closes(tenanments) surely 89 is to many I wont last my knees are killing me

The interpretation of "close" under Section 29 (1) of the Tenements (Scotland) Act 2004 ("the Act"), which is defined as:

"...a connected passage, stairs and landings within a tenement building which together constitute a common access to two or more of the flats".

There was a study done by RM in Glasgow and Dundee a few years ago on this very subject. The conclusion they came to is that the number of "C!OSES" on a walk should be kept to a sensible number and time built in for walking up and down, which I would have thought was common sense anyway. There is no official number only that they should be shared out with all staff and more time built in. If your working in G11/12 then your f....d as mostly 90% of the whole office covers tenements. In fact Glasgow is a bastard to be a postie in delivery, lol

The study referred to above concluded that no postie should be delivering to more than 33 Victorian closes/day.
This was the advice of RMs own H&S team.
This is 99 sets of steps.
It specifically referred to those with 4 levels - ground, 1st, second and third.
It didn't include 2 ups in the recommendation. There is no recommendation to limit the number of 2 ups.

So the answer to the original question would depend on the type of closes being delivered to.

Yes, clash city, your correct but that is now not RM regulations. I will find out and get back to you. I'm sure it was the delivery director who wanted a new study with the longer delivery spans.

im a driver on my own! no van share partner, I do 89 closes and my lapsing is oversize of this walk and another walk plus 5 collections, the walks 2 loops to long, but their not interested in that, these new 6hour deliverys are a step to far, just be thankful if they haven't got to your unit yet! up in Scotland is a killer we are always the guinea pigs

Don't know about 6hr deliveries, but new thing seems to be getting part-timers out 45/50 mins early (all indoor work done) on monster walks. So essentially 5hr plus on delivery so no OT.
Usually happens when full-time walk-holder has been trying to work to their time.

On subject of closes it is so mixed between 2/3/4 up, new/old, some have 10/12 steps to get to front door. It should really come down to total amount of stairs. Should be a limit because it puts major strain on knees.

The walks in our DO have been six hour delivery spans for quite a while now. We have done this to keep most of our duties FT and to make it so RM cannot ask for any more hours out of office. There is still pressure from above for cuts though so our DOM is telling them to go fish - in polite terminology of course.

Wouldn't surprise me if RM were to just replace your DOM with one that will make the cuts they want
