Not paid for mums funeral

Had ongoing problem with Regarding time off as I wanted 2 days off for my elderly mum who died, he says I can have 1 day off but I asked for 2.Eventually he agreed but then this weeks pay I see 2 days pay taken off my wage so I phoned up wages as Dom is now on 2 weeks holiday and they said that Dom said it was 2 days unpaid leave? I thought we would get paid for your parents funeral? I had 1 day when she died originally and he has put unpaid for 2 days last week! This has left me short this week but because he is on holiday apparently they can’t adjust pay, we also have had different Dom’s this week and no one wants to help until regular Dom is back. Whole thing has left me really angry. Can I take this further with area rep whilst he is on holiday as I have 2 days pay taken off of me because I went to my mums funeral! Surely this is wrong taken pay off me?

You should have had a weeks paid special leave for the death of a parent and then annual leave if you felt you needed more time .

yes I feel the same I’m concerned I’m not going to get paid back as Dom apparently requested unpaid special leave can I take this further? Raise a complaint against him? If so how do I go about it as I have had enough of this as I am being made too look like I’m just taking tip-off for the sake of it yet he has been incredibly insensitive about the whole thing

You are entitled to 1 week paid special leave anything after that on sick is counted as bereavement leave and would not have gone against your sick record. Get in touch with your area rep the manager is an absolute c--t hope he remembers when its his turn to grieve over someone very close to him.. shaking with fury at the cheek of the f:::king lousebag.

Surely union would help out wether in union or not ffs the guys mum has died an there taking unpaid leave wtf.

yes you can’t believe it wasn’t paid I am well pissed off as wages people say it’s manager who requested unpaid! Surely I should get paid at least for day of funeral? Can I speak to he about this and can union do anything as I know I want to take this further

Get your rep or area rep on to this asap they will give you best advice cant say anymore other than keep repeating what ive said above you ARE ENTITLED TO A WEEKS PAID SPECIAL LEAVE.

yes I see it says 5 days pay so don’t know why he decided to take 2 days pay away which has left me short in my bank account and no one to intervene. Will have to speak to area rep nextweek as off tomorrow,
