Hi, find below the Mount Pleasant bulletin of the 16th of January and the entire back and front page attached. Comments welcome!

PSYCHO-JARGON!
Whazzat? Union officials said they’ll be coming with
managers to visit to 62 RM sites around the country (and
HMP too?) to gather “emotional intelligence data” from
us..! Apparently they’ll be asking us “how we feel” about
working for Royal Mayhem!! And if we’d be proud for our
children to work in here! Well, if they don’t know the
answers already, they honestly have nothing to do in our
union!

DIDN’T RM DO AWAY WITH 1ST CLASS?
As for this “Feel First Class” campaign - well, nice one
RM! So now if we’re feeling 2nd (or 3rd...) class as we all
do, all the time, in this place, or worse, it’s OUR fault for
not “connecting with the fitness tracker” or “browsing” (do
they mean grazing?) “the range of healthy recipes”... etc.,
etc...
PS: We feel 1st class if we don’t work!!

THEY CAN’T ORGANISE ONE IN A BREWERY
Yep, we’re in 2019 and no sign of the Processing re-sign
yet… We heard that it was going to happen in February,
but managers have been postponing it since September
last year, so who knows? Some say it’s April, after the
EVRs...
What we know for sure, is that allocating duties in this
half-mail centre, half-construction site will be a
headache… So let’s make sure it’s RM’s headache, not
ours!

HEADACHE PART ONE
And part of the headache is to define duties… because
honestly, we (let alone the managers), don’t even know
any more what a “duty” is supposed to mean! One
moment we’re working at our usual post, two seconds
later managers send us to work at the other end of HMP
doing something quite different!

HEADACHE PART TWO
Yes, managers had better try to figure out how to cover
duties without workers… Because, while we wish our
mates taking VR and going in March all the best, the
bosses better understand that we won’t be covering the
resultant gaps! RM wants a re-sign in HMP? They better
re-cruit - and on all shifts!

PROOF OF THE PUDDING
Have managers only just discovered that processing
doesn’t clear by magic? Just a few days after they sent
Xmas casuals back home, they had to bring 8 of them
back on nights, because they couldn’t clear the tracked
mail! Evidence that this is not “casual” work (as if there
was such a thing, anyway!), but needs to be done by new
permanent workers!

NOT HEARD OF JOB RESERVATION?
In fact, we’ve seen managers doing Processing jobs. Of
course they’re chasing their dear bonuses for all they’re
worth! This is bad enough. But how can we allow them to
get away with cutting our numbers, and then immediately
trying to do the jobs they themselves have just cut!? They
should put themselves in the Re-sign!?

IF A YELLOW VEST, ON THE OTHER HAND...
Of course the re-signs for Deliveries (W1) may be going
ahead - but there again, the DUMs have been trying to
keep our numbers down whether it’s EC, WC or W1 and
this means it’s a game of trying to cut a coat out the
amount of cloth which can only make a vest.

WE CAN’T WASH OUR LUNGS
The money for dust is meant to be paid. £200
compensation they call it and then wash their hands of
the problem of this construction site and our health.
How can we be grateful or satisfied with this?

NOT PAYING US AMOUNTS TO THEFT!
How come PFS can’t sort out the night cleaners’
allowance? We haven’t been paid it since October!
Somebody up there is clearly unable to divide, multiply
or add up! And they want to change the whole system
now to monthly pay starting February? No, not until
everyone’s pay is sorted out fully - and with interest.
And by the way since it’s not implemented yet, can we
re-register our objections!?

0% CORPORATION TAX? UNBELIEVABLE!
RM has managed to get away without paying a single
penny of tax on its £212m profits last year! Worse, they
got a "tax credit" so instead of paying the 19% due,
(roughly £40m) they were given a £93m handout by the
Treasury, £78bn of which they say was due to a pension
"accounting adjustment". These guys use every trick in
the book and the government's up to its eyeballs in the
game!
They're not the only ones who paid nothing and got a
bonus from the taxpayer: Standard Chartered (profits
£1.8bn) got a "tax credit" of over £12m; Centrica (British
Gas) with £142m profit got £88m and BP with profits of
£5.6bn got £134m! Stinks to high heaven, doesn't it!?

THE DEGRADING OF POST OFFICE WORKERS
We see from the CWU Twitter account, that the union’s
protesting against the selling off of the Upper Holloway
Crown Post Office. There are only 262 Crown offices
left now - 111 have been closed in the last 5 years!
Franchising out these offices involves worsening pay
and conditions, often drastically. But to add insult to
injury, these contracts have been signed (already!) after
billions of £s have supposedly been poured by the
government into “modernising” the POs! So where
exactly did this money go?

REMEMBERING OUR FRIEND
We were so very sorry to hear about our friend Jim, on
Lates, passing away this December, and we'd like to pay
our respects. Those of us who knew him don't
understand why there was no commemoration or why
his picture is not there in the Bookroom beside other
mates who we've had to say goodbye to. Surely that
should be remedied as soon as possible?

Duty content of a 318 doesn't mean a thing really, everyone's 318 says something like "or as directed" on it so anyone can be sent to any section that they're trained on at anytime
