Could anybody tell me what the options are on your retirement date regarding annual leave?

The colleague in question is has 3 weeks of annual leave to take, can he retire earlier or ask for 3 weeks pay?

As far as I'm aware he can do either of those options. We had a guy retire a couple of months ago and he wanted to use his leave so he could go earlier and it was ok. If you leave with outstanding leave then it should be paid in the last pay slip.

Thanks.

I was due a couple of weeks leave when I retired, so I finished a couple of weeks before my actual LDOS (last day of service).
I don't remember being asked if I wanted AL pay in lieu, but I wouldn't have taken it as I just wanted to get out and had already waited 5 months from applying. If PILON had been offered I would have taken that, but it wasn't.
