buyout
My opinion of the article is they are saying that because the share price is low now would be a good time for someone to buy the company out. Now that is correct but i doubt we're in for a takeover anytime soon, not many investors want RM as it stands, all they want is the profitable bits

buyout
Any company that has 'value' is being bought up. Government's in some countries will step in and stop any transactions that are deemed to threaten national or security interests. The UK government has not yet stepped in so all kinds of companies, technological advances & patents are being sold off.
I was told ages ago that German business interests had amassed a large shareholding in RM. The big question is does RM have value in terms of being a business. As far as I know there isn't much left in terms of sellable assets as the majority of that has already been sold off. The main assets are probably our image & reputation which is well respected and the knowledge base of the posties. We do have the majority share of the business though along with an already set up network and sort of a monolopy kind of control of postal delivery. Combine this with a rapidly declining share price and they are probably correct to say now is the optimum time to make a buyout bid for RM. If we don't get good figures released for the Xmas period then there could be even more chance of it happening.
