been a few put in by some staff after finishing on xmas eve. this was because, over the xmas pressure some staff worked over their time doing excess packets and clearing up the packets/loops left in by staff that couldn't/wouldn't do them. so...on xmas eve most people finished about an hour to 1.5 hour before their time. the DOM then decided that those staff that hadn't extended or went over during the pressure had to stay till their duty finishing time, at the same time allowing those that HAD worked over their time and did extra over the pressure to leave as soon as they finished. talk about ''lighting the blue touch paper'' ….. theres been hell on. area rep says the grievances won't hold any ground.... comments?

Your manager rewarded those who went the extra mile over our most important period.

Sounds like good management.

If you're cutting off during our busiest period then why should you receive the same treatment as those going the extra mile?

Too many in this company expect to be given something for nothing.

the argument is though, they are discriminating against those that CAN'T extend. i.e. picking kids up from school etc.

Yes I hear you, and I get it.

But say he didn't let those go home early that did the extra mile this year... next year he has lost all goodwill and more cutoffs will happen.

I cut off lots this Xmas and wouldn't expect any special treatment.

Its annoying and a bit wrong but dont forget that lots of time part timers go over as they need the money and so need to workthe extra hours available at christmas. But all the full timers forget about the fact that after christmas when there saying how nice it is to be going home early and having shorter days yet the part timers having drastic hours cut so basically full timer gains the extra hours back over them days that they did at Christmas so effectively part timers did the hours for free compared to them :hmmmm Dont you think they feel discriminated against all year? All though maybe just refusing to do more then contracted hours is the way its not always as simple when people need the money!

Simply bad management
As stated above alot of people can't do overtime part time or full time.
In the way forward agreement every opg should work there contracted hours ,
So on Christmas Eve everyone should get sent home at the same time when all the works completed etc dutys completed and the following weeks percentage of d/d.
They have singled out individuals so definitely a grivevence.
Talk to the rep if no joy comntact the area rep then if no joy stage 1 disagreement

Time management done the job correctly

Cwu are paying lip service to standing up to this.
Back in the real world the rep tell you to cut off and goes back reading the paper.

Haha thats true, i was just meaning if they asked me to come in an hour early and i finish and hour early and say i won't book it if i can go now for example an the full timer is forced to stay an extra hour to there finish time is that wrong? . But from what OP say they cant discriminate against letting some one go an hour early paid and make some one stay for that hour though regardless of what they did over christmas.

He should have simply stopped being so bloody petty and let everyone go at the same time i.e EARLY
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
