For those offices not on longs and shorts they have a huge advantage over others now,i have 7 hr 40 on a Monday so if you get a Monday as a BH and that's your day off your being forced to have a Monday off at a later time, but if you've a long weekend you might wish to book a Friday off if you was going away for example, and if that was the case you would owe hours/time again hope I make sense

Annual leave day owed question
As we all know annual leave is now based on hours (rip off/con),when your on longs and shorts your messed up big time now.i think I know the answer but would like clarification please.new years day Tuesday is my day off, with this being a BH I will get this back my hours on a Tuesday are only 6 hr 30 mins compared to a Thursday for eg of 8 hour 20 mins.Does this force me to have to take a Tuesday now as an annual leave day ? if I took a Thursday would I owe 1 hour 50 minutes ?

I agree the hours instead of days change isn't really good for us even though it has been sold as being good for us. It's all part of the resource to workload idea that governs everything now.
If you have any excess AL left you could add the hours from New Year's Day to that and devise a better usage of the hours. You could also carry that day over to the following year if you don't have any excess left over this year. Doing the maths could then enable you to choose a better option the following year. It's a pain in the **** but it's where we are now.

I guess like us the system was implemented without any explanation in how it will be run but i'm certain Tuesday hours will be credited back to you and you then use them as you see fit
but we all know this won't happen, it will be a struggle to get what you're owed
Probably not what you want but i wonder if you could insist on having a Tuesday as to use another day would mean using more of your allowance and probably result in not having enough hours to book another day of the week

or you could ask to bank some overtime towards it to make it a full day. i.e. don't book any overtime you work till it has mounted up to an hour and a half or 2 hours, then get it added to the existing 6.5 hours you have for the Tuesday. can't see them objecting to that. its done in ours.

Or if you don't like the time, take the money.
Do you think you should be paid the hours for a longer day if you have a shorter day off?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Very dangerous road to go down and add the fact there is no agreement to bank hoursdaveyeff wrote:or you could ask to bank some overtime towards it to make it a full day. i.e. don't book any overtime you work till it has mounted up to an hour and a half or 2 hours, then get it added to the existing 6.5 hours you have for the Tuesday. can't see them objecting to that. its done in ours.

can't see why its dangerous at all. there is no agreement, but its done in loads of offices up and down the country. there's a lad works overtime in ours but doesn't book so he can get the time off or go early on Saturdays home games where he's a steward at the matches. never ever been any bother over it. if it suits them and helps them they are happy.

How can he just go early on Saturday, who finishes his duty? Some weeks i could not claim mon to Friday and take Saturday off with the overtime 'banked' as you say. We all know what the answer would be if I asked though.daveyeff wrote:can't see why its dangerous at all. there is no agreement, but its done in loads of offices up and down the country. there's a lad works overtime in ours but doesn't book so he can get the time off or go early on Saturdays home games where he's a steward at the matches. never ever been any bother over it. if it suits them and helps them they are happy.

they get it covered off someone. he does all sorts for them so uses this to his own gains. they can always get duties covered. they say they can't, but they can. what do they do when someone calls in sick? ….they get it covered.
