question for a rep
our new rep isn't sure so i'll ask on here. I have triggered a stage 1. no interview date yet. but one of my absences of 4 days is due to clear next week. if this clears BEFORE my interview, can I still be staged, …or will it be a case of the stage was ''triggered'' before the 4 day absence clears so it stands.? can't say ive come across this situation before so do any reps or anyone really know the answer.

if you get to interview and that absence has gone off the procedure and its still less than 13 days and only 3 absences, you should not be having the interview.
The manager cant use it as this is the point where a decision is being made. I would ask for a print out on the day and your rep should get it thrown out

I would have thought that the manager would still have to go through the stage 1 procedure as the stage was still triggered.

At the point of interview, you are dealing with the facts. You are discussing the absences that triggered the stage 1 and if one is not there, you cant proceed with an interview where the standards have not been exceeded.

Yes, but the stage wasn’t triggered on the day of the interview, it was triggered on the 4th absence or the 14th day. Surely all this would mean is that if you receive an interview 1 week after triggering a stage then the 6 month period for the stage to clear would be 25 weeks after the interview instead of 26?patrickstar14 wrote:At the point of interview, you are dealing with the facts. Hopefully your right.
Keep us posted on the outcome please daveyeff.

The interview is the point for discussing the events. It may have triggered the stage a few weeks ago but if the absence has gone off the procedure it doesn't go ahead.
This is why managers have prompts and for the interview to be done around the 7 day mark for this reason.
