How long u need to be postie to be offer a full time hours?

The way the company prefers to work is offer staff overtime rather than actually increasing their contractual hours. Its win-win for Royal Mail. They will expect you to work your hours during summer and hopefully get you to do a little of overtime when its busy in the weeks leading up to Xmas. You need a good Union rep to argue the case for putting in extra hours, but what Royal Mail seem to be doing at our depot is recruit more part-time staff instead.

If you haave been on a full time duty for at least six months as a part time contracted person, and working the full time hours, then a very good case can be made for an increase in contract. Ideally levels of full timers will be agreed with management and maintained, so when someone leaves they are replaced as a matter of course.

Doesn't the full time contract get offered to the most senior part timer, not necessarily the part timer who has been working the full time hours as overtime?
