Opg taking his own private car up to delivery , whilst his partner drives Royal Mail vehicle , ps no mail in his car but surely he his risking his job and his partner for permitting this Mal practice.
Thoughts ?

Been happening in my office recently too.

Can't fit 3 people in a van? Sweet talk one of them to driving their own car.

You need business insurance to do such journeys, that's the problem.

Sorry but what am i missing here ,1van- two seats two posties , all the mail and packets in the back where it is intended to be
or do they dislike one another that much they wont travel together

I remember when some of us used our cars for deliveries years ago and we had to get the appropriate business class 1 insurance for it. Royal Mail only changed the rules regarding using cars to physically deliver the mail; if the op is only driving out to meet the driver, where is the issue? I know of many posties who get dropped off when they finish instead of travelling back to the depot with their partner, because it suits them, and Royal Mail don't have a problem with that.

they may have a problem when posties have to go back to the office to clock off work . because its getting closer .

Theres a walk in my office that a guy lives right near is walk. so he does the last two loops of the mail while the guy who drives goes back to the office to sort all the p739s back.

Royal Mail's own words on the subject....

4. Cars on delivery- All new delivery routes post transformation will have been designed to perform the delivery operation using the designated equipment, either HCT or operating from a Royal Mail vehicle supported by the use of a lightweight trolly where appropriate. The practice of using private cars on delivery ceased in all delivery units on the introduction of the transformation revision where methods have been introduced. This includes all travel to and from delivery. Therefore no colleague will be allowed to use their private car during duty time going forward.

Every so often you read of strange practices that go on within RM, but that one is a real eye opener!

How is that even possible? So 1 person is sitting in their house with their feet up well before their finish time whilst their partner drives the van with un delivered items and empty mail bags and PDA's and collections etc back to the office to unload and sign them both out? Madness.

We've got somebody who looks through his lapsing work and removes anything that needs a scan and takes these items out with his own HCT duty while leaving the bundled up lapsing letters on his frame and telling the management that he'll deliver it when he gets back. He then delivers his own round and attempts delivery of the lapsing items requiring a scan before returning to the office and putting his returns and trolley away and returning his PDA to the cabinet.Then he tells the managers that he still has his lapsing to do, picks up the letters and gets into his car and delivers them on his way home.

PDA actuals? Haven't caught up with him yet.

If he could I think he would. 5he o my reason he can't is because he's the full timer and got to prep both walks
