I had a run in with a colleague on duty, it had been building up over a few years. Unfortunately I just had enough of him and in September I was due to work with him but refused so I was given a van to work on my own. Same again in November. I refused to go over my time. So managers gave me a van yet again. I’m due to work with him wedsnesday onwards. I have no idea why?
they have paired us together. But vans are limited due to parcel drivers, So I feel none of the managers have listened to my complaint and decided to pair me with him. My question is who can I put the grievance in about ? I’ve been to the Dom, Line managers and they are aware of his behaviour and still chose not to do anything about it?
The guy is someone who likes o/t and drags his feet. Every duty he covers, he drags his feet. Refuses to carry a bag in a “Close” instead trolleys it holding 10 letters and one small parcel in the bag. Refuses to take packets that would go through the door and chucks them out. My duty relies on you and partner working together as an organised team. It’s just so stressful and others hate working with him too. Plus he’s rather opinionated and sexist too.

And what would the grievance be? The screws make you work with someone you don't like? Bang in a grievance against the guy if you have grounds, if not I'm unsure as to what you thnk the bosses can do. We have one colleague very few people are happy to work with but as the only person to who made an official complaint against them for their behaviour was them-self the subject of a complaint from the other person nothing came of it. Use the overrunning delivery procedure and leave them to it if finishing on time is the main issue.

The grievance process should be started with management over their regular rotoring of you to work with him, knowing of the problems between you both. They have a duty to avoid possible aggressive conflict between workers, deliberately placing workers who are likely to get into conflict together certainly needs documenting at least via the grievance process. The first stage of this is a meeting between you and your line manager and bring the rep in if you can. Make it clear to the manager you consider this to be the beginning of a grievance process. If the outcome is unsatisfactory then follow this further https://www.cwu.org/wp-content/uploads/ ... Policy.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As regards the other person, the official position is that trolleys are a standard piece of equipment to be used at all times. I know in practice this does not happen in a lot of offices to any great extent. It certainly doesn't happen in ours, which is foolish, but the newer people are never encouraged by managers or most other staff to use them and so the practice is if anything dying out. It can't be argued though that this particular aspect of the 'conflict' is a valid one.

Nope, I read it differently, okay the bloke uses a trolley which is all good and that, but he is chucking out parcels for the driver that should go into the trolley as well.worktotime wrote:I cant understand what your grievance is about ? by sounds of it you don't like the guy as he is using the equipment to do the job and refuses to carry a bag and run round , good man ,
People can go on about using the trolleys and think they are doing to the job right but if they are bouncing packets that will fit in the trolley then you are doing it only half right.
Also, the grievance, though it is probably not a strong one, is plain as day. It's a personality clash and possibly a culpability issue, both situations are covered in managerial policy and agreements with the Union. The grievance would be against the manager failing to uphold these policies/agreements.

there's a couple of lads in our office like that. they just don't get on full stop. so the management don't put them together. they are risking 'lighting the blue touchpaper' with those two. if they WERE to be paired it would end in a scrap. or one or the other would sign off sick. it just doesn't happen.
